I literally shopped til I dropped…

Posted by kim on September 30, 2009

Many of you know that I live in a small town, so I have to drive 20 miles to shop, and even then I don’t have a whole lot of shopping options (just Walgreens*, Walmart and Target).   I was ecstatic to spend the last two days in Sioux Falls, South Dakota shopping with a friend at stores that aren’t available to me here near hickville.

Here’s the Deals I took advantage of…

Gordman’s – Extra 50% off Clearance Prices for Cardholder members

JCPenney’s – Redeemed my $10 off $10 coupon I received in the mail

Kmart – Double Coupons! Common Sense with Money lists the Best Deals and Coupon Matches – exp 10/3

Kohl’s – 15% off Everything with Kohl’s Charge – available with postcard instore or online at Kohls.com with Coupon Code: OCT15OFF – exp 10/7

T.J.Maxx – got some name brand clothes on clearance – can you believe I didn’t buy any shoes?

The Empire Mall is really a nice mall – the layout is somewhat confusing, but it is abundant with great shops. Plus we had fun trying out the photo booth and massaging chairs!

And then there’s the Food I don’t normally get to divulge in…

Cinnabon – the one I used to visit in Omaha is now closed, so this was a real treat

Cracker Barrel – I had never eaten at one of these restaurants before, and it was so good – tasted better than homemade! Plus the gift shop included some neat retro toys and candy. We were too stuffed to order dessert, but the Double Fudge Coca-Cola cake looked so good! I found the recipe online and plan to make it tomorrow!

Old Chicago – my absolutely favorite pizza place – hint, eat during “happy hour” when you can get stuffed on the appetizer specials which include mini pizzas.

To top off the fun trip, I had enough Choice Hotels points to redeem for a free hotel room for the night.  I wish I had remembered that I had free Fandango movie gift certificates to redeem that I won from Blingo.  Plus my friend won some money at the casino so the trip was quite profitable for him! Now, I am exhausted and ready for bed!

*Walgreens currently has some great deals that I took advantage of this week as well.  Deal Seeking Mom lists the deals of the week.

Happy Easter!

Posted by kim on March 23, 2008

Happy Easter Bouquet of FlowersI hope everyone is having a Blessed Holiday.  I found some Easter cartoons (please note that they do not portray that Jesus is really the reason for the season, but funny none-the-less).

My greatest shopping find this week had to be at Wal-mart.  They had their Betty Crocker frostings “rolled back” to only 88¢ a tub, a deal in itself.  But on the BC cake mixes below them, there were 50¢ off peelie coupons off frosting (no cake mix purchase required).  I bought ten (I like the “whipped” varieties) at 38¢ each!  And there is no tax on food in Nebraska.  Looks like we’ll be making lotsa cupcakes soon!

When in Omaha last week with my daughter for a doctor’s appointment, I ended up buying 5 pairs of shoes! The first two I got at Famous Footwear where I combined the BOGO sale with 2 $5-off coupons I had received in the mail, so only paid $10 for both pair!  The next ones I got at Kohl’s on clearance for $7.99, $8.99 and $9.99, all name brand nice shoes.  Too bad my coupon for an extra 15%-off expired the day before.

Also while in Omaha, we met my brother for lunch at Old Chicago, and even after indulging in my favorite pizza, I’ve still managed to lose five pounds this week following the 4 Golden Rules to Be Thin.  Now, I’d like to lose 15 – 20 more.
