Star Struck in New York City

Posted by kim on August 13, 2009

I just returned home from a trip New York City  – one of my favorite cities to visit! I could see myself living there if I didn’t have kids, as I love the hustle bustle.  And since I don’t like to drive, I like the idea of walking and/or using public transportation to get everywhere.  The only main drawback is the cost of living which is way higher than the middle of nowhere here in Nebraska!

New York City is known for having an abundance of celebrities sitings, but I got a glance at my first celebrity of the trip on my layover in Memphis – country music singer hottie Brad Paisley!

Then when I arrived in NYC, I was soooo jealous to hear that my friends had dinner at Molyvos, where Chris Noth, aka Mr. Big, was also dining!  I am a huge Sex and the City fan and was so disappointed that I wasn’t there to see him! They all said he is even better looking in person! Did you know they are making a sequel movie?  Anxious to see the storyline of that one.  Anyway, back to the story at hand…

One of the nights I was there, I toured the New York harbor aboard the luxury yacht Valiant courtesy of Market Leverage.  Dinner was prepared by Top Chef’s finalist Casey Thompson!

My “affiliate husband” Jon Levine* (a star in my own eyes) and I posed for a picture with Casey. She even got her own camera and said she’d post a pic of us on her blog!  Jon and I met at a conference a few years back and have a great time hanging out together a couple times per year.

Next up, I got to meet Nicole Facciuto, host of HGTV’s Red Hot and Green.  Nicole actually used to be roommates with Jon when he lived in New York City (he now lives in Miami) and thus introduced us.

I told Jon he has such cool friends (me included)! I had so much fun hanging with Nicole and hope to able to see her again!  The pic above was taken while we were bowling, courtesy of BowlingShirt.com and GTO Management.

After four fun filled days in New York City, I am home safe and sound. I lost my voice while there, so if you find it, please overnight express it back to me!  I am extremely exhausted, so it may be be a few days before I catch up on emails on such. But I would do the whole trip over again in a heartbeat! Watch for future posts to hear more about my trip (aka shopping on Canal Street in Chinatown) soon.

A Day at the Spa

Posted by kim on May 20, 2008

Spa Finder gift certificatesMarket Leverage sent me a SpaFinder.com giftcertificate (along with tons of other goodies).  SpaFinder.com offers gift certificates that are accepted at over 4000 participating spas worldwide and can be redeemed for spa treatments, vacations experiences, spa products and more.  So, I chose Garbo’s Salon and Spa at Regency Court in Omaha for “my day” yesterday (thus you probably noticed the lack of updates to the site).

I had never had a professional massage, so that was my first priority.  I had a half-hour Swedish massage and wish I would have opted for the full hour as the time flew by. But I’m an impatient person and was afraid an hour would be too long (I get impatient laying 10 minutes in a tanning bed).

The masseuse, Sharon, told me I was very tense and asked if I sit at the computer all day long?  Yep, she nailed that one.  She told me I may be sore the next day (today) since it was my first massage, but I’m not yet (yet, being the keyword).  But I am extremely exhausted.

Next up, I debated between a manicure and pedicure or a new hairstyle.  I opted for a new cut/style with highlights and lowlights put in.  My hair is even shorter than when I dontated to Lock of Love last year leaving it long in the front and stacked at an angle in the back.  I need to experiment with it before taking any pictures to share.

The stylist, Michelle (petite gal that shops at Delias) asked me what kind of products I use, and I didn’t want to say “whatever I can get free/cheap”, so I knew I currently had Pantene (from a Target deal) and told her that.  She said Pantene is the worst brand to use as it leaves a waxy build-up!  She said Suave Professionals (which I normally use) is way better.  Of course, she recommended salon products, but if I want to buy non-salon products, that Tresemme would be my best bet.

All in the all, the spa experience is one I’d do again in a heartbeat!  So if anyone needs any ideas for presents for me (hint, hint) or anyone else for that matter, check out SpaFinder.com!
