Happy New Year! Welcome to the first Mailbox Monday edition of the 2009 year!  Today is my son, Taylor’s 18th birthday which makes me feel old!  He is now half my age!

Free 2009 Oriental Trading Calendar includes stickers and recognized days of interest.  Did you know today was National Bird Day?  Tomorrow is Cuddle Up Day. You should learn something new everyday!

Request several samples from Costco.com I received Kirkland Diapers and Poise Pads.  You do not have to be a Costco membership to request these.

Request several Samples from Walmart.com I received Orville Redenbacher popcorn.  These samples are only available for a short time, so act quickly.  And if you are lucky enough to request them, they arrive in your mailbox rather quickly.

My Walmart now a Redbox vending machine where you can rent videos for $1 each which excites me.  Rent free movies with Red Box Codes! I just wish my Walmart was a little closer than 20 miles away!

FREE Tivo Cookie Cutter (unavailable now, sorry)  I never got around to making cut-out sugar cookies when I made Christmas candy and cookies this year, but I need to make cookies for our school’s snack day sale this week.  Looks like we’ll be making TiVo cookies!

This year I cheated and sent out free postcards for Christmas instead of full-blown cards. My friends already know I’m a cheapskate, so I might as well save 15¢ per card on postage.  You can order free postcards for any occassion – party invites, showers, announcements, etc.

Next Monday, I will be in Las Vegas for Affiliate Summit (where I’m a finalist for a Pinnacle Award) so there will be no Mailbox Monday – don’t miss me too much!  I’ll miss you all!

It was just another Manic Monday…

So glad today is Tuesday! Yesterday, I noticed a counterfeit check go through my online banking account, and then I wasn’t able to check my snail mail since my key/lock broke (how I miss my mailbox connected to my house) And with the kids being home for the summer, they occupy a great part of my time, and less time to sit at the computer and look for deals!

On Sunday, I wanted to go to Sam’s Club in Sioux City to stock up on some staple items (you know lasagna, pizza pockets, crab ragoons), so asked my sister if she wanted to ride along. Sure, as she wanted to go shopping at the mall for some clothes. My oh my, did she dink around at every store. I did buy a few tops at Deb’s to wear to Miami next month, but I mostly sat around and waited for her.

I have been on a “reading books” kick, so picked up the following hard cover books (should last me months, if not years) for under $6 each at Barnes & Noble (bargain bin)…

Finally at 6:08 pm, she decided she wanted to go back to the first place we stopped for some shoes. They closed at 6 pm, and she was so upset. I remind her it was her own fault for dinking around, and then thought to myself, what if Sam’s closed early on Sundays, too? Yep, 6 pm. Needless to say, I was now the upset one. The whole reason driving an hour away was now wasted.

Looks like I’ll be heading back there soon (this time without my sister – hehe).
