When I was in high school, I wanted to write and produce television commercials for my career, and I originally went to college for commercial art. Well, things (er, babies) happen and my life took a detour.
But I still love watching commercials. And come this Superbowl Sunday, I’ll be more interested in the advertisements than the actual football game. So you can imagine how excited I was when I was asked to review this vacation rental commercial.
This commercial from Vacation Rental.org caught my eye, but I can’t say that the “Unitard” made me laugh, so I probably wouldn’t dub it “funny” in my opinion. But it does get the point across that staying in a vacation rental does look more appealing than staying in a hotel while traveling.

My cousin makes her own laundry detergent as she wrote about on the Star Tribune today. Her intention is to be more green, but after reading it, I’m thinking I will try to make some as well, but more so to save money. Here’s the concoction:
Homemade Laundry Detergent Recipe
Ingredients: 1 cup Borax (I already have Borax as I tried that as one of my remedies for a washed-out cellphone; doesn’t work, try rice instead)
1 regular-size bar of soap with no added moisturizer (she suggests Fels-Naptha Soap) grated.
Directions:
Mix ingredients together with a food processor (would a blender work?) to fine grind everything up. Use 2 Tablespoons per load of laundry. Sounds easy enough that even I could do it!
