Buying Eyeglasses…ONLINE!

We all know that buying anything and everything online is cheaper and easier than getting in the car and driving out to the store. You can buy everything from prescription medication to car parts online. Did you know you can also buy eyeglasses online? Don’t scoff- it’s true! You are probably thinking “Wow! That seems really complicated! Why would I buy those online?” Well, why spend $400 on a pair of single-vision glasses when you can spend $40? See the point? You can SAVE by buying glasses online.
Think of what you could do with the money you save on buying glasses online! Rather than waiting six weeks to have your hair tinted, you can do it every four weeks. You can use the savings to go out to a nice restaurant or buy a new sweater. You can save more than 70% on prescription glasses by shopping around the internet. So, what should you be looking for when it comes to buying your next pair of glasses online?
Professionalism: Is the website your looking at professional looking? If it seems a bit messy or very distracting – don’t buy into it. If a site is messy, run. Chances are you won’t find any glasses easily if the site you are looking at seems messy. Do they have an easy-to-find customer service phone number? If so, call them and ask your questions! A representative should be able to answer your questions with ease and politeness.
Easy to View: Can you find the prices easily? Do they state the terms and conditions in clear English? Can you find sub-categories easily? If the answers to these questions are “yes” – this is a good site! If the answer is no to at least one of them, think about what will happen if you need to return the glasses. If you think they may not honor their return policy – it is not worth it.
Easy Ordering: When you look around the site, does it seem easy to order the eyeglasses or do you have to go from page to page to page just to get to the different types of lenses and coatings available? How many pages do you have to go through before paying? The more pages you go through, the more likely you are to make a mistake that could cost you more money than you wanted to spend.
Take your time when looking at eyeglass frames. Pay close attention to the size of the frame. Pay even closer attention to the ordering portion. Remember to go slowly – this isn’t a race. Speed will cause mistakes. If you are afraid to insert your prescription on your own – faxing or emailing your prescription should not be a problem. If it is, you do not want to buy from them. It is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your vision.
