Denim Contest – Please Vote for Me

Kohl’s is having a “Demin Story Contest” where you can submit a video &/or picture and story about demin in your life.  I remembered I still had a pair of jeans from high school that I had painted on.  So, I dug them out of storage and coaxed my daughter, Mallory, to put them on (they obviously do not fit me anymore).  I was originally going to make a video explaining them, but the video submissions must be under 30 seconds, and I didn’t think I could do them justice in that time.  So I opted for the picture instead…

And here is what I wrote in under 1000 characters…

These were my favorite denim jeans from high school twenty years ago. Zena Brand was the bomb, and I’m afraid may be making a comeback.

Since I can longer fit into a Size 5, I had my teenage daughter model them for the picture who said “those are so 80’s!”

I was an aspiring artist (or so I thought) and dared to be different, I dazzled them by painting on them some of my favorite things.

My favorite songs were “I Like It” by Dino and “So Alive” by Love & Rockets. A boy at the time sang that song to me saying it reminded him of me, “I don’t know what color your eyes are baby, but your hair is long and brown. Your legs are strong and so, so long, and you don’t come from this town.”

Kohl’s has to manually approve each submission saying it could take up to 48 hours, but it only took a few hours to get this email…

So, this is my plea for your vote!  Beings Mallory’s oral surgery is costing $10,000 (she is scheduled for next week), I thought it was cosmic that the prize is that much!  And that was my motivation to enter.
