A Helpful Smile in Every Aisle

Posted by kim on September 1, 2007

It’s nice to be able to go shopping by myself while the kids are in school – no “Mom, I want this”, “Mom, we need this”, etc. Yesterday, I wasn’t really in a mood for shopping, but we did need some groceries, and I won Nebraska football tickets that I cordially told my brother he could have for today’s game, so I needed to drop them off with his friend.

I was craving Bula’s pizza, so I met my cousin there for lunch after dropping off the tickets. She is pregnant with twins, so I maybe should have let her cravings decide where we eat, but she graciously agreed to fufill my hunger urge (and no, I’m not pregnant)!

After lunch, I decided to go to Hy-Vee, as I could get my daughter’s prescription filled while I shopped. They were having some good Labor Day specials, ie 15¢ off each gallon of gas with a $25 purchase, and I spent $100 on the instore specials (Diet Dew 4/$10). And my friend works there so I was able to chat with her for a few minutes. They were sold out of my favorite doughnuts, but the best part was when I picked up the Rx, it was the last day of their promotion – Free $25 Gas Gift Card with any New or Transferred Prescription! And this was a new one. What a great deal for our $10 copay! So, of course, I got gas after that – $25 free and 15¢ off per gallon after that. Now if I only I can so lucky on the Powerball ticket I bought!
