Lottery Hits Close to Home

Posted by kim on March 1, 2006

I usually buy a Powerball ticket once a week, and my kids reminded me to buy one for the record $365 million jackpot last week. I, of course, did not even hit one number, but was excited when I heard the winning ticket was sold in Lincoln, Nebraska, as I know many people there, including my brother.

Turns out it was a group of eight meat plant coworkers from ConAgra Foods that claimed their fame. Unfortunately, I don’t know any of them. I read in the newspaper that the phone is ringing off the hook for their publicist asking them to appear on Jay Leno, the Today Show, Ellen DeGeneres and more. They declined them all. I would have jumped at the chance to brag about my winnings!
